Blood Quartet (Barcelona | NYC)
Blood Quartet is composed of New Yorker, Mark Cunningham, (former member
of Mars, pioneering North American no wave band of the 70s, later member of Don King in the 80s and musician in several projects with Lydia Lunch, Art Lindsay, Christian Marclay, Pascal Comelade, Don King, Bèstia Ferida, etc.), and the Catalans Kike Bela, Lluís Rueda and Pau Rodríguez (musicians from projects such as ZA!, El Petit de Cal Eril, Terry Riley's Orquestra In C., Murnau B, Bella.
They formed in 2015 and their music follows the path of no wave towards free jazz, primitive minimalism, twisted blues, ambient landscapes, and swamp rock. Grounds where improvisation is combined with the transformation of structures, resulting in psychotropic, bright and dark sound journeys. So far, including “Root 7”, their latest album, they have released five record references, with labels such as Foehn, Gandula, Feeding Tube, Cardinal Fuzz, and Moorworks.
They have also created soundtracks for feature films (M. Ángel Blanca) and
developed numerous multidisciplinary shows, for example, with Blanca Haddad or Mireia Calafell (poetry), with Laila Tafur (dance) or with Chuso Ordi or Konic Thtr (cinema - audiovisual).

Another notable project they have been working on is their collaboration with Dongyang Gozupa.
